Established in 1991, Active Assistance has over twenty years specialist experience working with and understanding the needs of people with Spinal Cord injury.  We have been at the forefront of working with thought leaders such as MASCIP and specialist units as well as client support organisations such as SIA, BACKUP and Aspire to refine our service provision.

Our passion is built on a simple belief: each individual should be enabled to live a fulfilling life to their own potential.  We aim to do this by developing confidence through committed, empathetic and sustainable support. Our highly specialised clinicians work with NHS staff to ensure that each individual has a care plan tailored to their specific needs.  We never forget that clients have a choice.

We always tailor services around the needs of the client and what suits them and their families. We are committed to working in partnership with the NHS, local authorities and other stakeholders to provide the highest quality assured continuing care in the community built on sound governance principles.  Structured, well planned home healthcare is both safer for service users and more cost effective than hospital or other institutional care.  So whether, an individual requires a live in care package or a live out package ranging from a few hours a day to full 24 hours support, Active Assistance is able meet the challenge.

We recruit staff who positively embrace our values. These are re-enforced through our highly acclaimed and award winning training programmes.   All staff are trained around the special needs of individual clients and specifically trained in bowel management, catheter care, skin care and ventilation and breathing support. The high quality (CQC three star rating) of our service provision is widely recognised.

It is really a rewarding care job as you are working with adults and children who are paralysed as a result of a spinal cord injury. 

Assignments are pre-arranged throughout the UK, so you can choose when to work and when not to. As a live in carer, the client provides free food and accommodation and Active Assistance provides a generous salary. When you are not working you may stay, subject to availability, in our staff accommodation.  Live in assignments are flexible around the needs of the client and the PA and can typically range from living in for three to four days, to three week assignments – the choice is yours!

If live in is not for you, Active Assistance has a large number of positions for carers working on a shift basis.
